Pregnancy and giving birth in arctic. North nomads life

Would you be able to live like this? Why? Why not?
What would be the toughest part for you?
What doesn't Vera know about other pregnant women's diets?
Do you think Vera and her family are happier or less happy than city people?
Where is the baby finally born?

  1. I wouldn't be able to live like this, firstly, because I not getting use to live in so extremely bad weather conditions and because the solitude, month after month of eternal isolation, which is for me the toughest part.
Vera doesn't know that city women even rare eat steak during pregnacy, but they look healthy, so what's the problem? I firmly convinced than they are happier than us, with the minimum neccesary they have survived throughout generations. Obviously they want to live longer, it's because they appeal to the medical services, but I don't really believe they want to live in a different way.
Finally, as the documentary show us, the baby finally was born inside the hut with the women nomads' help, which seems to me astonishing, taking into account that they are doing that without any medical supervision.

    1. Hello Carlos,
I agree with you. The low temperatures must be difficult to bear, but I guess it's not as difficult for them as it would be for us. The isolation also sounds like a great challenge.
Maybe they are happier than us, but sometimes I think that's not completely true. I think I would get bored to death living in a place like that.
You're also right when you say they look healthy. Have you checked their life expectancy? I'm just asking because I don't know.

I couldn’t live there without any service near and the low temperatures, obviously if I had been born there And I don’t know anything more it was different.
The toughest part for me is bear the iced temperatures.
She doesn’t know that city women avoid eats rare meat because it can affect the baby, but I think she looks very well and her baby too.
They seemed very happy and calm with her lives and finally the baby was born there Vera’s aunt had experience and help her.

    2. You and Carlos seem to agree about everything, Gabriela. And you both answered the question about eating raw meat correctly.
You have also said something very interesting. If you had been born there and didn't know anything about the outside world, you'd be perfectly happy.

  3. And the part about the baby being taken to hospital is also true, but you forgot to tell me your name. :)
