What do you think of this? Can you share your opinion?

  1. We all go through ups and downs. Some people are enjoying a good time but some others are going through a bad patch. Life is like this and there are good things and bad things. We should be kind to everyone because even if we think other people are happy they can be suffering.

  2. I consider it is a good example of our society. Everyone should be able to keep safe during the storm, if they don´t have the ways, the rest must to help.

  3. I agree with you, Fran.
    Two little things:
    - if they don't have the means
    - must help

  4. I think this is completely true, there is a big storm out there and everyone of us is on its own ship (having into account that there are many different kinds of ships) and we are there struggling against this storm as we can... My mother used to say: 'que cada palo aguante su vela', sorry but I don't know how to translate that into english...

    1. I'm not sure what your mother meant, but I guess it's something like: we all carry our own burdens.
      Remember:
      -to take into account.

  5. “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others”. This can be read in "Animal Farm" (George Orwell, 1945).
Although, it was linked to a moment during the Stalinism, it seems that (relatively) nothing changes.

    1. George Orwell fought for the POUM in the Spanish civil war and he became aware of the hostility that other republicans had for them especially other communists. In fact they put Orwell on their death list but he escaped before they could kill him. It is ironic republicans were a bigger threat to Orwell than the nationalists. This gave Orwell a hatred of Stalinism and he detested left wing dictatorships as much as those on the right. This explains why he wrote both animal farm and 1984.

    2. Jose Ramon told me this not long ago. How he escaped by train with his wife. However, he died of natural causes not long after that, didn't he?

  7. Through this quote I understand that all human beings are different, and we must respect, tolerate, and help each other. However, these words also reflect that socially and economically we are also different when we should be equal. This social gap is due to the society we created over decades. This social inequality tends to affect the opportunities and wealth that individuals can generate for themselves. On the other hand, this inequality must not diminish the kindness of the heart and the desire to help.
